Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor of Sasuke Uchiha in the English dub of Naruto, is leading a new project that will result in the release of a rap album titled “Fire Style” on August 19th. Lowenthal is not new to the world of anime, having voiced various characters in popular series such as Code Geass, Promare, Kotaro Lives Alone, and Tiger & Bunny. He has also lent his voice to video games, including playing Spider-Man in the PlayStation game series and The Flash and Shazam in Injustice.
Lowenthal announced the upcoming release of the Naruto rap album on his official Twitter account, where he shared a video clip of himself rapping as Sasuke. The album will feature other singers and voice actors from the Naruto series collaborating to create original tracks that will surely excite fans of both anime and rap music.
While Naruto is not the first anime franchise to dabble in rap, with Dragon Ball, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and One Piece having done so in the past, this project by the English voice actors of Naruto promises to be a unique addition to the list.
Currently, in the Naruto sequel series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Sasuke is fighting against the Kara Organization, who are seeking to obtain the power of the divine tree. However, Sasuke lost one of his eyes to Momoshiki, a member of the Otsutsuki clan, and can no longer access the power of the Rinnegan. Furthermore, the Hidden Leaf Village has also lost the nine-tailed Fox due to the battle against Jigen, putting more pressure on the new generation of heroes to defend their village against Code and his minions.
Fans are excitedly looking forward to the release of the Naruto rap album, and many are already wondering which other Shonen franchises could benefit from their own rap album.
