Bleach’s Thousand-Year Blood War dub cast announced

BLEACH fans have been eagerly anticipating the English dub release of Thousand-Year Blood War, the anime adaptation of the final arc of Tite Kubo’s beloved manga series. VIZ Media recently announced the main cast of the English dub, generating a lot of buzz among fans. While most of the main cast remains unchanged from the 2004 anime, there are a few notable changes, including the recasting of Yasutora “Chad” Sado.

It’s worth noting that the original Japanese version of Thousand-Year Blood War is currently being simulcast on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in various regions around the world, but some Latin American and European fans are still without access to the series. It remains to be seen whether the English dub will also face the same distribution issues.

Returning cast members include Johnny Yong Bosch, who will once again play series protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki, Michelle Ruff as Rukia, and Stephanie Sheh as Orihime Inoue. Meanwhile, Derek Stephen Prince will play the Quincy Uryu Ishida, and Doug Erholz will voice Kisuke Urahara. Unfortunately, Jamieson Price, who previously played Yasutora “Chad” Sado, stepped down from the role, citing his decision to no longer voice characters of color. He has been replaced by Alain Mesa, a relatively new voice actor.

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War follows the final battle between the Shinigami and the Quincies, who were once thought to be extinct. It premiered on TV Tokyo and its various affiliates on October 10, 2020, and has been available to international viewers on streaming services like Hulu and Disney+. Studio Pierrot, the same studio that produced the original anime, is producing the series, with Tomohisa Taguchi as director and Masashi Kudo and Shiro Sagisu returning as character designer and composer, respectively. The English dub of Thousand-Year Blood War is set to premiere on Hulu on November 4, 2022.
