Piccolo from Dragon Ball gets a funny Assassination Classroom makeover

The Dragon Ball Super Gallery Project has unveiled its latest reimagined cover, featuring a hilarious crossover of two iconic manga mentors: Piccolo and Koro-Sensei. Illustrated by Yusei Matsui, the cover depicts Piccolo in the role of Koro-Sensei from Assassination Classroom, and Gohan standing in the background with the teacher’s tentacles. This marks the eleventh cover out of forty-two total volumes in the project, with previous covers being created by mangaka such as Tite Kubo, Osamu Akimoto, Ryuhei Tamura, and others.

Shonen Jump News shared the new cover on Twitter, showing a different side of Piccolo. While still green, he now resembles Koro-Sensei with a much different facial expression, reflecting the teacher’s art style. This humorous crossover is a perfect match considering the mentor role that Piccolo plays towards Gohan in Dragon Ball, and Koro-Sensei’s popularity among fans.

Assassination Classroom was a best-selling series that ran for twenty-one volumes and had a spin-off manga titled Koro Sensei Quest. Koro-Sensei’s character is a fan favorite, and it’s not surprising that Piccolo was given the same likeness in this cover. The Dragon Ball Super Gallery Project has previously reimagined covers by adjusting the art style to match the iconic works and styles of each mangaka, while maintaining the same basic composition. However, this cover is unique in that it replaces the Dragon Ball characters with those from another series.

Fans are eagerly anticipating future releases in the Dragon Ball Super Gallery Project, which features a new reimagined cover each month. It’s exciting to see which volumes will be matched with which mangaka, and how they will reinterpret the Dragon Ball characters. Matsui’s stylized version of Piccolo for this cover is both clever and amusing, bringing two incredible teachers into one combined existence.
