Shikamaru’s tribute to Asuma during the end of Naruto was perfect

Sarutobi Asuma was a highly respected and beloved mentor in the Naruto franchise. He was the leader of Team 10 and had a warm spot for young shinobi, wanting to make their training easier and more enjoyable. He was also the son of the Third Hokage in Hiruzen, which added to his status as a highly respected figure in the Hidden Leaf. Unfortunately, Asuma met a tragic end during the Akatsuki war, sacrificing his life to protect Shikamaru from Hidan’s attack.

In the aftermath of Asuma’s death, Shikamaru took on the responsibility of being there for Asuma’s wife, Kurenai, and their unborn child, Mirai. He trained Mirai and acted as an uncle figure to her, paying homage to Asuma’s role in his life and how he helped him on S-rank missions. Shikamaru’s dedication to Mirai was also driven by his desire to honor Asuma’s legacy and ensure that Konoha was protected.

In the first chapter of Konoha’s Story, fans saw Shikamaru pay tribute to Asuma in a poignant way. He played Shogi, a traditional Japanese chess game, with Asuma and was taught a valuable lesson about sacrificing pawns to protect the king. Asuma had explained to Shikamaru that the king was not the Hokage, as Shikamaru had thought, but rather the future generations to come. Asuma asked Shikamaru to protect Mirai and all those who would come after her, passing on the baton to the next generation.

In Chapter 2 of Konoha’s Story, Shikamaru once again played Shogi with Mirai and gave her Asuma’s chakra blade to use in the field. This act symbolized that the student had become the master, and Mirai was ready to walk in her father’s footsteps. Shikamaru also shared the same lesson that Asuma had taught him about sacrificing pawns, showing that he was passing on Asuma’s legacy to the next generation.

Overall, Asuma’s story was one of the most tragic in the Naruto franchise, but his legacy continued through Shikamaru’s dedication to Mirai and his tribute to Asuma’s teachings in Konoha’s Story.
