“Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King” will debut on Netflix in March 2023

Black Clover fans can look forward to a new anime film titled Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, which is set to premiere on Netflix on March 31, 2023. This upcoming film will be an original story based on the long-running Black Clover anime series, which is based on the manga series by Yuki Tabata that currently runs in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Tabata himself is supervising the story of the new film, which will focus on the Wizard King.

In addition to the release date announcement, the production team has also unveiled a new teaser visual and 45-second PV trailer of the anime film. The animation production is being handled by Studio Pierrot, with Ayataka Tanemura serving as the director, Itsuko Takeda as the character designer, and Minako Seki as the music composer. The team behind the project includes some notable names in the anime industry, which should excite fans of the franchise.

The Black Clover anime series ran for 170 episodes from October 3, 2017, to March 30, 2021. It follows the story of Asta and Yuno, who were both abandoned at a church on the same day. Yuno has exceptional magical powers, while Asta is the only one in this world without any. Both receive grimoires, magic books that amplify their holder’s magic, at the age of fifteen. Asta’s is a rare Grimoire of Anti-Magic that negates and repels his opponent’s spells. The two become good rivals and are determined to achieve their common dream of becoming the Wizard King.

Since the release of the manga series in 2015, Black Clover has spawned various spin-off manga, a light novel, and video games. It has also gained a considerable fan following, thanks to its unique blend of magic and action. The series was streamed on Crunchyroll in select English-speaking countries and territories.
