Gintama Project Last Game announced as PS4 exclusive with English subtitles

Bandai Namco Entertainment recently announced the release of the new Gintama action game, code-named “Gintama Project Last Game”. The game is based on the popular shonen manga series, Gintama, written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi. The series has been serialized in Shonen Jump since 2003 and has been turned into an anime with over 300 episodes that first debuted in 2006. It is one of the most popular shonen franchises in Japan, standing alongside other giant titles such as Dragon Ball, Bleach, and Naruto. The series has also been adapted into multiple feature films, including a live-action adaptation, and OVA releases for the home video market.

The game will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and will be released in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia. Unfortunately, the PS Vita release, which was announced only for Japan, will be skipped for the Southeast Asian market. However, there is good news for those who do not want to wait for a possible Western release, as the game will have English subtitles in Asia, paired with the original Japanese voiceovers. Another positive aspect is that the game will be available in both digital and physical forms.

Although there is no official release window for the game, fans of the franchise can check out the subtitled version of the original teaser trailer featuring popular characters Gintoki Sakada, Shinpachi Shimura, and Kagura. While there is currently no word on a Western localization, this news is still exciting for fans of the franchise who are eagerly waiting to experience the world of Gintama in a new interactive format.
