Gintama Season One to receive English dub

After a successful run of over a decade, the manga and anime series Gintama by Hideaki Sorachi finally came to an end earlier this year, much to the disappointment of fans worldwide. However, the Gintama franchise is known for surprising its fans with unexpected announcements every now and then, and it has done it again.

Hulu has recently announced that it will be streaming the first season of Gintama, which includes the first 49 episodes of the series, with both an English subbed and English dubbed release. This is an exciting development for fans who have been waiting for an official English dub release of the first season of Gintama, as the previous release was limited to the third season only.

While the cast for the English dub has not been revealed yet, fans can look forward to streaming the episodes from December 1st onwards. It remains to be seen whether the English dub cast will be the same as Funimation’s previous release of episodes 266-316, but fans can currently watch those episodes on FunimationNOW.

In addition to the first season of the anime series, fans of the franchise will also be delighted to know that a new Gintama anime film is in the works. While there have been no concrete details released about the new movie, fans are eagerly waiting to see what adventures the franchise’s beloved characters will embark on next.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Gintama is set in an Edo period Japan that has been invaded by aliens known as Amanto. Following the surrender of the shogun, humans are forced to live alongside the invaders, and the series follows the adventures of a samurai named Gintoki Sakata and his friends Shinpachi and Kagura, as they take up odd jobs to pay rent for their Yorozuya home base.

Despite ending its run in Weekly Shonen Jump earlier this year, the franchise still has a devoted following of fans who continue to support creator Hideaki Sorachi for the incredible work he has produced over the years. With the first season of the anime series set to receive an official English dub release and a new movie in the works, there is still much to look forward to for fans of Gintama.
