Fans worry about MAPPA censoring violent scenes in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2

Jujutsu Kaisen is a popular anime series based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. The first season of the anime premiered in October 2020 and ran for 24 episodes, concluding in March 2021. The anime was produced by Studio MAPPA, a Japanese animation studio known for its work on other popular anime such as Attack on Titan, Yuri on Ice, and Dororo.

The series follows the story of Yuji Itadori, a high school student who becomes a Jujutsu Sorcerer, a protector of the human world against evil curses and spirits, after ingesting a cursed object. Along with his friends, he fights against powerful curses and their users, while also discovering the dark secrets of the Jujutsu world.

The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen is highly anticipated by fans of the anime and manga alike, as it is set to adapt some of the manga’s most intense and violent arcs. Fans are especially concerned about how the studio will handle the level of gore and violence in the upcoming season, as the source material becomes increasingly graphic.

However, as mentioned in the paraphrase, many fans are hopeful that there won’t be heavy censorship in the second season. They point to the late time slot in which the series is set to air in Japan, as well as the lack of censorship in other recent MAPPA anime productions.

Overall, the anticipation for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is high, with fans eagerly awaiting the premiere in July 2023.
