Wrestling star compares Naruto to WWE when explaining the popular anime to Vince McMahon

During an episode of the I Hear Voices podcast, WWE superstar Zelina Vega shared an interesting anecdote about how she had to explain her love for anime and the Naruto series to Vince McMahon in order to convince him to let a voice actor from the show work on her Royal Rumble entrance. McMahon, who was rumored to be backstage during a recent episode of WWE RAW, is known for his lack of knowledge about certain pop culture references.

Vega recounted how she related the characters of Naruto to those in professional wrestling to make McMahon understand. She explained how she wanted Neil Kaplan, the English voice actor for Madara in Naruto, to do her entrance for the Royal Rumble, and how she had to explain to McMahon who Madara was. She even had to go as far as comparing Naruto to WWE, with Madara being the equivalent of Paul Heyman to Roman Reigns. By the end of the conversation, McMahon seemed to have grasped the concept of anime and was able to appreciate Zelina Vega’s fandom.
