Haikyu!! manga ends. Final volume out Nov 4

Last week, it was announced that Haruichi Furudate’s Haikyu!! manga would be ending. The saga officially comes to a close in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, which hits stands in Japan on July 20. The chapter is already out in Japan and has arrived in the English Jump. In just a few months beyond those final pages, the last collected volumes will be on shelves. The penultimate collection, volume 44, will be released in Japan on August 4. Then, on November 4, the 45th and final volume will arrive along with the release of a guidebook. After that, the first large-format collection of Haikyu!! will be released in December.

The final chapter of Haikyu!! includes a total of 19 people writing comments and providing illustrations. These include anime cast members like Ayumu Murase (Shoyo Hinata) and Haikyu!! To the Top director Masako Sato. Haikyu!! has been running in the pages of Jump since 2011 and has since been collected in 43 volumes so far. The second half of Haikyu!! To the Top—the latest season of the anime adaptation—is scheduled for an October premiere.

Haikyu!! is a slice-of-life sports anime revolving around Shoyo Hinata’s love of volleyball. Inspired by a small-statured pro volleyball player, Hinata creates a volleyball team in his last year of middle school. Unfortunately, the team is matched up against Tobio Kageyama’s team in their first tournament and inevitably lose. After the crushing defeat, Hinata vows to surpass Kageyama. After entering high school, Hinata joins the volleyball team only to find that Tobio has also joined.
