Assassination Classroom Volume 2 manga review

In the second volume of the manga series Assassination Classroom, readers are introduced to the new English teacher of Class 3-E. However, it quickly becomes apparent that she is not just a regular teacher. She is actually an extremely attractive assassin named Irina Jelavich, who was sent by the government to kill Koro-Sensei, the octopus-like teacher of Class 3-E. Irina is used to using her charm in order to get rid of her targets, and she tries to use seduction in order to lure Koro-Sensei into a trap, despite warnings from the students. However, Koro-Sensei is much smarter than she originally thought and he easily figures out her trap.

As readers delve further into the series, it becomes clear that creator Yusei Matsui is starting to get more comfortable with the story and characters. One of the highlights of the series is that it is not simply about the various attempts to kill Koro-Sensei. While this is certainly a driving force behind the plot, Koro is also trying as hard as he can to teach the students of Class 3-E. However, he is faced with a couple of problems: the principal, other teachers, and the students look down on Koro’s students and even try to humiliate them in order to keep them in their place. While Koro goes out of his way to help his students succeed, the principal goes out of his way to help them fail.

Each chapter of Assassination Classroom Volume 2 focuses on a different student, allowing readers to get to know each character in-depth. The series spends a lot of time on character development, which is one of its greatest strengths. It’s hard to care about the story if you don’t care about the characters, and the manga does an excellent job of making each character feel unique and fully realized.

The first two stories in this volume revolve around Irina Jelavich. It is obvious that she has used her charm to kill her targets in the past, and when she fails her assassination attempt on Koro-Sensei, she has to get used to being a teacher to students who obviously do not like her. She is rough around the edges and is not used to her new surroundings, leading to many comedic situations throughout the volume.

In the third story, the class takes a trip, and everyone is excited. There is quite a bit of humor and drama in this story, but it quickly takes a serious turn when a group of delinquents become interested in some of the female students of class 3-E. They overpower the male students and kidnap Yukiko and Kaede, two of the female students. This event sets the stage for the next volume and leaves readers wondering how Koro will handle the situation.
