Bleach creator hints at new manga project

The Bleach fandom is abuzz with excitement as Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, recently dropped hints about his next manga project. In a recent interview with Ichigo’s Japanese voice actor, Masakazu Morita, Kubo revealed that he is still working on manga pages, but did not specify what he is currently working on.

Kubo is known for his work on Bleach, a popular manga and anime series that debuted in 2001 and ended in 2016. The series follows the adventures of a teenager named Ichigo Kurosaki, who gains the power to see ghosts and becomes a Soul Reaper, tasked with protecting the living world from malevolent spirits. Bleach has amassed a huge following over the years, and fans were thrilled when it was announced that the series would be returning with a new anime adaptation, The Thousand-Year Blood War.

However, fans are also curious about Kubo’s next project. While he did create BURN THE WITCH, a Bleach spinoff set in the “Western” Soul Society, and a Bleach anniversary one-shot in August 2021, it’s unclear if Kubo’s next manga will be a continuation of Bleach, a spinoff, or an entirely new series. In the interview, Kubo stated that he approaches his work differently now, drawing about five pages to move the story forward and letting it sit for a month, compared to when he was working on a weekly series like Bleach, where he would draw the first three pages and let it sit for a day.

Fans are particularly curious about the possibility of a Bleach sequel series, especially since Kubo has been dropping hints. Some fans believe that the Bleach anniversary one-shot is the start of a new “Hell” arc that will eventually be continued as a sequel series. Kubo has also stated in the past that he has ideas for a sequel, but has not revealed anything concrete.

Whether Kubo’s next project is Bleach-related or not, fans are excited to see what the talented mangaka has in store. With Bleach making a comeback and the potential for a new series, the Bleach fandom is as passionate as ever, eagerly anticipating what’s to come.
