Gintama 2023 event gets key visual

The upcoming “Gintama 2023 (Kari)” event has generated a lot of excitement among fans of the popular anime series. Scheduled to take place on March 19, 2023, at Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena, this event will be the seventh of its kind, with previous events being held in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017, and 2019. To hype up the event even more, the Gintama anime series has released a key visual that features the main characters and some of their allies.

In the newly-released visual, the members of Yorozuya – Shinpachi Shimura, Kagura, Sadaharu, and Gintoki Sakata – take center stage. Behind them, we see three members of the Joishishi faction – Shinsuke Takasugi, Kotaro Katsura, and Elizabeth – all striking their usual poses. Next to them stand three leaders of Shinsengumi – Sogo Okita, Toshiro Hijikata, and Isao Kondo. In the background, we can see cherry trees in full bloom in Ryogikan Kokugikan Arena, adding to the visual’s overall beauty.

Fans are eagerly anticipating what surprises the “Gintama 2023 (Kari)” event will hold. The event’s slogan, “Let’s go together beyond the other side of the final!”, has fueled speculation that it may involve some major announcements related to the franchise. With Gintama being one of the most popular anime series of all time, there is no doubt that fans will be tuning in to see what the event has in store.

The Gintama franchise has a long and storied history. Hideaki Sorachi began the manga series in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in January 2004, with the series running for a total of 77 volumes before concluding in June 2019. Along the way, the series inspired multiple anime adaptations, including films. The first two seasons and Gintama: The Movie (2010) and Gintama: The Movie: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorozuya (2013) were animated by Sunrise, while the rest of the anime adaptations, including Gintama: The Very Final (2021), were animated by BN Pictures. Viz Media licensed the manga for English releases, with the 23rd volume being published on August 2, 2011. The manga’s plot centers around Gintoki Sakata, a freelancing samurai, and his friends Shinpachi and Kagura, as they take on various challenges and adventures in an alternate history late Edo period overrun by aliens called Amanto.
