Gintama light novel series to be adapted into anime

During the Gintama Ato no Matsuri event, it was announced that the Gintama light novel series, “3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-Sensei,” will be receiving an anime adaptation. This announcement has left fans excited to see how Gintoki fares in the classroom, as the novel is set in Gintama High School, where Ginpachi Sakata, played by Gintoki, is the teacher despite not having the right qualifications.

The novel was written by Tomohito Ōsaki and was first released in 2006, with the latest edition published by Shueisha in 2018. There are more than five novels in the series, and almost all of them will be used in the anime adaptation. The content from the novel was used by the original anime at the end of its episodes, making it all the more exciting for fans.

Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama has been popular since its inception in December 2003. The manga continued to be serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump until June 2019 and has since amassed over 55 million copies in circulation, making it one of the most popular manga series of all time. Viz Media published the English version of Gintama, but unfortunately, they discontinued its publication after the twenty-third volume.

Gintama has inspired several anime adaptations, including the Gintama anime series, which has a total of 367 episodes. The first episode aired in 2006, and the final episode was released in 2018. The series also has various original video anime, live-action movies, video game titles, and live-action net movies. There are three different anime movies in the franchise, with the first one released in 2010, followed by the second in 2013. The third and final movie, “Gintama: The Very Final,” was released in 2021, and it adapted the events of the manga’s finale while adding a few twists to the story.

Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama follows the story of Gintoki Sakata and is set in the alternate history late Edo period. In this timeline, the world is overrun by aliens called Amanto, and to combat the threat of these intruders, the samurai picked up arms but faced a crushing defeat, causing them to live under the thumb of the aliens. While the rest of the world is busy, Gintoki Sakata, a freelancing samurai, is looking for work, which leads him to meet Shinpachi and Kagura. The two become his apprentices and friends, and as their friendship begins to blossom, new challenges pop up every day that test their ability to solve problems.
