What will Armin’s role be in Attack On Titan’s finale?

As one of the deuteragonists of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan manga and anime, Armin Arlert has had a significant impact on the course of the story. As Eren’s best friend, Armin has been at the forefront of Paradis’ fight for survival against the world beyond their walls. With the final season of the anime set to air this year, fans are eagerly anticipating what role Armin will play in concluding the story and how this will affect the fate of the islanders and the rest of the world.

From his humble beginnings as a Shiganshina resident who joined the Survey Corps after the destruction of his hometown, to his struggles with his stature and physique during training, Armin has forged a place for himself among Eldia’s protectors with his keen intellect and perseverance. His journey has been a long and difficult one, but he has proven time and time again that he is an essential member of the Scouts.

After Eren’s triggering of the Rumbling at the end of Season 4 Part 2 of the anime, Armin has a difficult road ahead to stop his best friend from committing genocide while also saving his homeland from destruction by enemy forces. Having been saved by the Titan serum in place of former Commander Erwin Smith, there is now a heavy burden resting on his shoulders. The sequence of events following the operation to retake Wall Maria firmly positioned him as a key player in Paradis’ resistance against the threat posed to their existence by Marley and the rest of the world.

Despite his limited physical prowess, Armin has proved on multiple occasions that he is as essential to the Scouts as any of their strongest fighters. What he lacks in athleticism and killer instinct, he more than makes up for with his innate eye for detail and ability to pick apart extremely adverse situations in order to choose the best path towards victory. This can be observed as far back as the Battle of Trost, where Armin came up with the plan to defeat the Titans by sacrificing Eren. It will come as no surprise if the remaining members of the Scouts and the Marleyan Warrior unit rely on his tactical insight to take the fight to Eren and his army of Wall Titans. Moreover, Armin is also a commanding orator when required, and his ability to rally both hostile camps and resolve conflicts between them, might also play a role in the course of the battle.

Hence, it is quite likely that the final confrontation to decide the fate of the world will hinge on Armin’s ability to come up with a plan to counterattack the immense power of Eren’s Founding Titan. Since a frontal assault would amount to nigh on suicide, the Scouts and Warriors will need a detailed plan of attack to turn the tide of the battle in the face of the massive disadvantages they face in terms of numbers and sheer destructive power. This is not a new situation for Armin, who has always managed to find a way out of scenarios where survival seemed virtually impossible. Not one to shy away from danger in any form, Armin’s strategies often gamble lives for huge payoffs, much like Erwin Smith, as seen in his ploys against Bertholdt’s Colossal Titan during both the Clash of the Titans arc and the Return to Shiganshina arc. The latter was an instance where Armin was more than willing to sacrifice his own life for Paradis’ cause, and there is a chance that he might face this grave choice once again when contending against the might of the Rumbling.

In addition to his prowess at outmaneuvering his adversaries, Armin is also the holder of the Colossal Titan, described as a “God of Destruction” by many who have faced him and lived to tell the story. Boasting a height of 60 meters and the ability to create massive explosions upon impact, the Colossal Titan is one of the most feared weapons in Armin’s arsenal.

As we’ve seen in the series, Armin has used his strategic thinking and the power of the Colossal Titan to great effect in battle. One notable example is when he used his titan form to destroy the outer gate of Wall Maria, allowing the other Titans to breach the wall and begin their assault on humanity.

But despite his fearsome reputation and his impressive abilities, Armin is not invincible. In fact, he’s come dangerously close to death on multiple occasions. One such moment was during the Battle of Shiganshina, when he was nearly burned to death by the Armored Titan’s heat attacks. And in a later battle, he was nearly killed by a group of Titans before being rescued by his friends.

Despite these close calls, Armin remains committed to his goal of protecting humanity and defeating the Titans. He’s also fiercely loyal to his friends, especially Eren and Mikasa, and will stop at nothing to ensure their safety.

As the series progresses, it’s clear that Armin is evolving and becoming even more powerful. With each new battle, he gains new insights and tactics that he can use to defeat his enemies. And with the power of the Colossal Titan at his disposal, there’s no telling what he’ll be able to accomplish in the fight against the Titans.

Overall, Armin is a complex and multi-dimensional character who brings a unique set of skills and abilities to the world of Attack on Titan. He’s a strategic mastermind, a formidable titan shifter, and a fiercely loyal friend. And as the series continues to unfold, it’s clear that he’ll play an important role in the fate of humanity.
