Black Clover movie to release two special novels before its release, each with different story adaptations

Black Clover fans have a lot to look forward to this summer as the franchise gears up for its first anime film release. With all eyes on Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, an update on the film’s novelization has piqued the interest of fans. The exciting news is that the franchise will be getting two different novels, set to debut on June 9th in Japan, just ahead of the film’s release. The first book, written by Johnny Onda, who also wrote the screenplay for the movie, will be a must-read for those who want to learn more about the movie before watching it, or for those who want to enjoy it more deeply after watching it. The second book, written by Kuma Ataro, will be a more traditional adaptation of the movie’s story.

The two books promise to prep fans for the Black Clover movie, with both featuring artwork linked to Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. The J Book adaptation will come with four illustrations, while the other contains two. Additionally, the movie attendees in Japan will be treated to a special manga volume titled Volume 23.5, which will contain behind-the-scenes details about Black Clover’s movie, including character sheets for the movie characters, Yuuki Tabata’s rough sketches of the four Wizard Kings, a question and answer section with Tabata about the movie, and a 20-page tie-in story written by Johnny Onda.

The first Black Clover movie is set to debut on June 16th, and will be released globally on Netflix. The story follows Asta, a boy born with no magical powers in a world where magic is everything, and his rival Yuno, a genius mage chosen by the legendary 4-leaf Grimoire, as they fight powerful enemies to prove their worth and aim for the top mage “Wizard King.” However, standing in front of Asta and Yuno are the Wizard Kings from the past, and an all-out war begins as they attempt to stop the resurrection of the 3 most feared Wizard Kings in history.
